Ok ladies I need advice.. Kennedy's soft spot is kinda sunken in a bit. She eats well. Not as good as she did, but still. She used to eat 3 ounces every 4 hours. Now she falls asleep all the time, sleeps 5 to 6 hours if I would let her and sometimes won't eat but maybe 2 ounces. I'm not sure if she's dehydrated or not. Her mouth is moist... She was on an IV when she was in the NICU, could that have anything to do with it? Ugh this scares me..

a sunken soft spot is definitely a sign of dehydration. is she peeing 6-8 times a day

just make sure she's eating every 3-4 hours.

two to three ounces should be plenty though to keep her hydrated.

Her diapers are usually full of pee, but she poops maybe once a day... @junebaby

Alright. What would make her sleep so much? She only stays awake long enough to eat, then falls right back to sleep.

that's perfectly normal. try undressing her during feedings or washing her off with a wet cloth to help her stay awake.

babies can sleep up 16-20 hours a day at first.

it's been nine years since I had my last. nursing school helped refresh it a bit for me. I still have to research a lot, even though this is my fifth. I learn something new everyday.
