I still can't believe she is mine! Charlotte is doing amazing and is healthy as can be...breastfeeding was hard at first and I had to give her some formula at 1st because we me being diabetic her sugars were a little low...but she started latching on quick and we haven't had to give her any since the day she was born. it does hurt but is so rewarding and if you have questions ask because they are so helpful in different techniques that work for different people. we got to go home today and so excited we are not in the hospital anymore.

@eskawho so this is going to be totally random, but I'm diabetic and you are literally the only other diabetic woman with a baby that I've ever encountered. I'm just over 25 weeks pregnant and I'm so stressed about everything diabetes related. Luckily my blood sugars aren't super crazy, they've mostly been low ever since I've gotten pregnant and my A1C is great for the first time in forever. But I'm so stressed out when it comes to the delivery. Like are they going to monitor my sugars while I'm in labor? Is it going to affect my labor? How is it going to affect my baby? I'm like beyond stressed about this.

@amillar23, don't stress to much because that is not good as well. keeping track of your sugars and what you eat to tell your dr is most important so they can a just any medications you are taking. throughout my pregnancy my sugars were great but had a high reading once in a while which is ok as long as it doesn't stay high. as for labor and delivery yes being diabetic will affect both of you but the hospital is well handled to take care of you. during labor they will be checking your sugar very often and during active labor might have to a just with insulin in an IV to make sure your numbers are perfect. I didn't get that far because I had a c section. as for baby...they will monitor the baby close for a bit, my little one had her sugars checked multiple times and after she passed 3 in a row she was good. being diabetic your baby could be on the larger side but if take good care of your self you should be fine. I thought I would have had a large baby but because of my hard work she was right in the normal range at 38 weeks 4 days she was born at 6 pounds 13 ounces. ..to compare my sister delivered at 35 weeks and hers was almost 8 pounds because she didn't take care of herself. diabetes and pregnancy is very difficult but work and be honest with your dr about everything...they will monitor you more than a normal pregnancy and the later in your pregnancy the harder it is to control your sugars because of the hormones. ..you might want to see a diabetic educator to explain this more in detail. my tip is to just keep to a great diet, keep track of everything, and try not to stress I know that last one is hard...but I will try and answer any questions you might have

congrats momma im so happy for you I know it was a struggle at first but now you have a beautiful baby girl that is truly a blessing .
