its a little t-shaped device that goes in your uterus and it has strings that are attached for removal when its time. look it up on Google and read about it. they have 5&10; year ones but you can get it out at any time. removal is painless. inserting it is a little uncomfortable. basically it thins your uterine lining out all the way so an egg can't implant. it also changes the cervical fluid so that sperm cannot survive in it.
