How Did Kennedy Overcome Her Rough Start After Birth?

SURGERY STORY: I was scheduled for a c-section on Wednesday, March 11th at 8 am but had to be there at 6 am. I was back in the operating room by 8 lol (like when are doctors ever on time right?!) I got a spinal and it took the anesthesiologist 4 tries to get it right. I was numb, so they started. My baby girl, Kennedy Alexis Meinecke was born at 8:23 am and she was breeched. She was crying at first, then all of a sudden she stopped. I knew it wasn't good that she wasn't crying and I started to freak out. They were doing CPR on my baby. She wasn't breathing. All I heard was a NICU nurse saying "come on baby!" while performing CPR. They took her to the NICU right away. I didn't even get to see her. My doctor told me she inhaled and swallowed a lot of amniotic fluid and needed it removed from her lungs and needed help breathing. I was devastated. They finished closing up my incision and took me to my room. I got news that Kennedy needed to be on a ventilator and monitored very closely, so she needed to be transferred to a different hospital to receive that kind of care, but I couldn't go with her. We all got to see her on an ambulance gurney before she left. It was a horrible feeling watching her leave. My doctor released me the next morning (just 27 hours after surgery) and I went to see her as soon as I could. She is doing awesome now and is making progress faster than the doctors thought. I'm doing great too. Healing very well and can get around with little help. We visit Kennedy as much as we can. I'm so happy she's doing so well with the rough start she had. She weighed 8 lbs 12 oz and measured 20 1/2" long. 💕 she's definitely mommy's chubby baby 😍😚
