I seriously feel like my midwife is just plain lazy. I've been seeing her every week since 36 weeks and she has never once checked to see if I'm dilated at all. She asks me what my concerns are or if I have pain but when I tell her she just says 'well your pregnant so it's expected' and then tells me to take a Tylenol, a bath, etc. It feels like I'm going to the doctor every week just to be told I'm still pregnant! I see her again next week on my due date and I hope baby comes before then so I don't have to see her. She bugs me!!

some midwifes don't believe in checking for dilation until your in actual labor

agreed ^^^, because you are more susceptible to getting infections when checked

I've heard of them not checking due to risk of infection but only if your water has already broken and mine def hasn't. I hear everyone else getting checked since 36 weeks and it's just frustrating to not know where I stand @babygirl10-11 @jstrong12712

this was the reason i switched from a doctor to a midwife i dont believe in getting my cervix checked till im in labor ... theres really no point but my doctor kept trying to talk me into getting checked i refused he got mad so i changed to my wonderful midwife

@babygirl10-11, your doctor got mad? Wow there's no need for that. That's good that you switched because you should get the care that you feel is right. There's no need for him to push his opinions on you. I don't have the same ideals as my midwife and I didn't get the option to switch from my doctor who I really liked so I'm bummed I have her now. Thank you I'll just have to ask at 40 weeks to be checked then!

yes he got very rude and cut or appt short .. he said starting at 36 weeks every mom should be checked i diagreed he completley stopped talkin after i told him no ... my next appt i had the midwife i told her what he said agreeed with me that there was no need to be checked before labor
