can gestational diabetes effect anything other than a big baby and them possibly getting low sugar later? just curious cause people keep saying it can make them immature and I was wondering in what sense..
well so far mine bounces high and low so I just need to find that balance. maybe add protein to not be so high and something that makes me not go too low on sugar.
eating proteins will help the low blood sugars...they always ask if im eating protiens...last dr visit i mention a few lows and she asked am i making sure i have a protien with my snack lol and eat healthy snacks...also fruits have a lot of natural sugars that can spike up your blood sugars so limit how much you eat...I love fruits but can only have so much with lunch and dinner...I'm on insulin it can be scary at first but it's not that bad. @fleajohnson
yeah I'm sure they will. my sugar goes high then super low. I bet they will put me on the medicine to be safe. but so far my baby has measured exactly right and everything has seemed perfectly healthy. praying it all stays that way. @eskawho
when blood sugars get dangerously low seizures can happen...but they will most likely check baby more than normal when someone has diabetes or gestational diabetes. during labor they check you often to make sure your good.. my sister also has diabetes and said they checked her every hour. @fleajohnson
I have diabetes, my Dr said yes I can have a bigger baby and if my sugars are out of control and high during birth it can cause complications for the baby including low blood sugar and seizures because with you having high sugars the baby will produce that extra insulin and after they cut that cord that sugar no longer goes to baby even tho the baby may still produce more insulin. so far my sugars have been in control and my baby is normal range for weight...they will induce me at 39 weeks.
I had gestational diabetes. and I had my baby Tuesday at 38 weeks exactly. they checked my blood sugars the whole time I was in Lahore and they were not high at all and my baby still had a low blood sugar when she was born but she was not big. she weighed 6 lbs 15 oz
I'm trying. I think I'll need the medicine though because it goes up high then shoots down real low. its hard to balance. but I'm slowly getting the hang of it I think lol @sking092192
