what's everyone think of mirena who has had it? going back in 4 weeks once I'm 10 weeks postpartum to get it!
I agree with @junebaby. Everything has risks, I just know people that had bad luck with the Mirena, and it wasn't a risk I was personally willing to take. I don't have a good track record with birth control anyways. I couldn't get pregnant for 8 years after taking the depo shot for 4 years. So I am a little more wary because of that. @juliagail09
@juliagail09, anything has risks though. I've heard horror stories with just about everything out there. You just have to decide what's best for you.
hmmm...ok maybe i will call and see...gosh freakn doctors i told her i didn't want anything that could go bad...@junebaby,
mine never poked him. they were bent off towards the side of my cervix. @juliagail09
my doctor said she pushed mine up so that they wouldn't poke my boyfriend??? hmmm maybe i will just go on the pill I'm scared now @junebaby
I always checked once a month to feel for my strings. That helps to know that the iud is still in place.
@abbilms00, I had cramping for about a week after and still had heavy periods for about two to three months. It thins your lining out all the way so just takes time for your periods to lighten up. The insertion was uncomfortable but I've heard its not as painful right after having a baby. I only needed panty liners for my periods when I use to need a tampon and a pad.
no it didn't hurt and i have had a little bit mostly after i got it in but now just spotting here and there. i have had a couple cramps for a few seconds....so far not too bad....I'm not sure how i feel about it after reading some of this stuff though... i don't want to not be able to have any more babies..but hmmmm idk...
yeah I don't trust myself to remember the pill and I am NOT getting pregnant within this first year. no thank you lol @rlcorreia123
it's all personal preference for sure. good luck! it sure beats having to remember a pill
@abbilms00, thank you. my sister had it, for a while she liked it until it started feeling funny & she had to pull it out at home cause she didn't have insurance but that was years after the fact.
yeah it going through your uterus is a chance you take but a lot of the time it can happen if it's not inserted correctly and my doctor is really good so hopefully he doesn't mess it up. and it's normal to have increased bleeding for like 2-3 months but then its supposed to calm down and by 6 months most people notice a 90% decrease in bleeding or no period at all. I hope I have a good experience but it affects everyone differently. @rlcorreia123 rlc
so i personally declined the mirena. but i am sure it works great for others
they tried pushing the mirena on me really hard before and after i had my first. i know three people that have had it with horrible results. One had it tear through her uterus, and she can't have any more kids cause of it, the other two had really bad periods that lasted for weeks
I will! I get it in March 10th so I'll tag you in a post after I get it and tell you how it went and then a week after that or so to tell you how it's going then. I hope I like it! @parkers_mommy
@abbilms00, please let me know what you think of it. that's what I want after I have my son.
I really hope I end up with very light periods, or even better no period at all! lol. hoping I have a good experience. I was just going to get the pill but decided I wanted something more effective and that I don't have to remember to take. I'm on the pill right now though until I have the mirena put in. did it hurt? did you bleed for a while after? @junebaby
So when I do go the birth control route, I take the less permanent options like the pill, or condoms and spermacides. I have to set my cell phone with reminders, but thats what works for me. lol
