Do epidurals hurt ??

Not really. I just got mine a couple hours ago. They give you a shot in the back to numb it and that pinches a bit but the IV hurts worse. Then they wait for a contraction and give you the epidural which is just pressure. If it hurts tell your anesthesiologist and s/he will fix it so it doesn't hurt. If it does hurt it's not a lot and the contraction hurts waayyyy worse. It's not nearly as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Don't be nervous. :)

I cried when I was getting mine but right when he did it it wasn't that bad.. The catheter hurts more

Did you get the catheter after your epidural? @rowansmama or before? They gave me mine before with my daughter and it hurt so bad I screamed!

to me personally, it didn't hurt. you just feel the pinch like any other shot you get in your arm. And then after that you get welcomed to "Pain Free Land"! lmao it's a life saver for sure!

It's a lot of pressure ir was very uncomfortable for me

Once you get the epidural you aren't allowed to get up so you get a catheter to empty your bladder. I didn't feel mine at all

WHEN DID THEY OFFER IT TO YOU ? IS THERE A CHANCE THAT IT WEARS OFF AND YOU HAVE TO GET ANOTHER ONE ??

well once you aren't able to handle the pain you can ask the nurse for the epidural. or they offer it to you. and they leave the catheter in there is connected to a machine that has more epidural in it. and it has a button you press once you start feeling it wear off and it sends you more epidural through the catheter and it's like new again no pain

@amg2469 you will feel the urge to push but won't exactly feel your self pushing tho ... the doctors will direct you ...

The catheter is so you dnt have to get up to pee. It empties your bladder. @amg2469 and they gave it to me right after my epidural so I wasn't even numb. And really my epidural didn't numb me. I have a resistance to it. They had to numb me a ton for my c section before they cut me bc I could feel everything @brandi_22
