When did you Mommys take off the scratch mittens? Everytime I leave them off just to change Bubbys…

I bit my babys nails off and washed their hands. I hated clippers because they scared me. I only used mittens in hospital. My oldest clawed her face all up.

@junebaby, I cut his nails with my finger nails like I'll just take them off when it's time because they're too long, i can't stand the nail clippers either, babies sqirm too much & last time I attempted that, I made him bleed ;( im not comfortable taking his mittens off just yet because he goes right for his face as soon as I do.. So when I'm changing his clothes or giving him a bath my husband has to hold his hands.

it won't hurt to leave them on. he will stop in a few weeks.

@kateferrera, and @junebaby , Try clipping babies' nails while they're asleep. They're calmer and more still that way so you can better tell what you're doing. Oh, and have someone else hold them while you do. It's what we did for my younger brothers as babies, plus it's less likely to pull or tear to the quick than biting or picking at them if you can manage it, but leaving the mittens on for a few more weeks won't hurt anything. Some babies scratch longer than others. :)
