My husband had a PTSD episode last night in front of me... it was his first one ever other then a few night terrors. He got back from deployment in Afghanistan over 2 years ago.. Most people would have freak out, and left him after, like my mom did to her fiance because he had episodes allot, because they couldn't deal with it. But, honestly, it only made me love him more. Now, I finally see the reason he says he needs me. <3

Mental disorder that you get from being deployment. You black out, and think your back where you don't want to be (Afghan, Iraq, etc.). You loose completely control over your body, and you remember none of it when you wake up. Basically, it's your emotions.and deployment memories built up from being held back for so long.

Depending on the situation, it can get dangerous, other times, not so serious.

@babyvazquez15, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. It's a behavioral (read: mental) health disorder caused when a person experiences a traumatic event or series of traumatic events. It causes severe anxiety in certain situations (that can vary from case to case), and can cause night terrors, paranoia, as well as flashbacks in severe cases. It's frequently characterized by a constant hyper-awareness of one's surroundings, including anything from environment to people or animals. In many cases involving military personnel they don't get proper treatment and if they do it doesn't come soon enough, which can worsen the condition. In a good number of severe cases, PTSD patients can become violent during flash backs and have no idea. :( It's really sad. My mother was Chief of Behavioral Health Case Management at Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX for a while and before she left started in to motion a new method of handling the program nationally to change some of the stigma and treatment flaws for our soldiers.
@rachelmariecroxton Your husband is so so so so sooo lucky to have you! Keep sticking by his side and helping him and things will get better. Also, never worry about encouraging him to seek professional help if you ever see the signs it's needed and let him know he should never worry about it either. I'll be keeping you in my prayers and I hope wish you both well on your adventures (or soon to be adventures) as parents! 😀💜

@wrens_mommy,
Thank you so much, that really means allot. <3 I was the only thing that was able to help him calm down... It made me realize when he says he needs me, he really does mean it. Now, I have absolutely no doubts of his love for me. It's amazing what one thing, whether big or small, good or bad, can prove. <3
