Whom all is going to do a Natural Unmedicated Birth? Anyone using a midwife? Birth Center or Home birth? I am having my first baby, and plan on having a natural unmedicated birth at a birthing center with 3 midwives. I am very excited and look forward to the experience. I am not scared at all. I have read and watched many documentaries and articles, as well as birth stories and know what I want and what is best for my baby and I. I am not saying medicated births are bad, I definitely believe there are times and situations to use interventions, I just think too many women take the medicated route without being fully informed, but also because they are ill informed but their doctors, so that their doctors don't have to wait xxHours on a woman in labor. I definitely encourage everyone to educate themselves before taking the medicated route even if you are scared of the pain and do not think you can handle labor/birth, research will often calm you and show you its not as bad as people scare you into thinking.

@delilahsmommy2015 good for you! & yes a handful of women think I'm crazy and say stupid things like "just take the drugs so you don't feel anything and get it over with!" and its frustrating because they are completely uneducated on what interventions actually do to both mother and child yet they're handing out this advice especially though they never have had a unmedicated birth.

it sucks my insurance will only pay half and I have to pay the rest out of pocket but cost is not a concern to me when it comes to my baby's health and mine. its harder to do natural in a hospital because doctors and nurses pressure women and scare women into getting interventions when they're most vulnerable. just remember to stand up for yourself!

ive had two medicated labors and 1 natraul labor ... ill never go natrual again lol

@january10th not only does a medicated birth make baby less active but I attached a clip of an article on how it affects breastfeeding.

I've had a natural & a medicated birth. funny thing is my oldest(natural) didn't breastfeed he wouldn't latch was way less active than his little brother . & my youngest was breastfed for 3 months successfully & he was a very active baby started crying right when he came out

I had natural labor in the hospital. I had a great team of nurses. I say natural. I was induced a week prior to due date. my pregnancy was very hard and was number 5. so we induced but I had no pain meds and wound up delivering without the Dr he got stuck in a c section. turns out My pain in late pregnancy was because the cord was around her neck x2 she was born posterior also bit it was my easiest labor and delivery. I almost gave out and asked for an epidural but the nurses were great when I started asking questions they knew I wanted natural so they kept giving me a pep talk and I made it through

even with the cord around her neck and the trauma of posterior birth my baby mad a couple of noises but was super alert and didn't cry

idk I thought it was weird, but maybe it just depends on the baby? I'm anxious to see what this one is going to be like. I'm going natural again this time

I had two babies with epidural and induced wit one and I had no problem with breastfeeding both latched on 1st time no problem and both were very alert came out screaming b4 their butts were all the way out lol ... my natural baby came out screaming also and latched on just as great. .. the only difference frm my medicated births from my natural is that my natrual birth it took me more time to recover I had more stitches BUT my labor was alot shorter it went from 17hrs to 3 hrs but I think it was because I labored at home till my water broke
