@babybumb19 yeah definitely! its totally safe, its like getting regular blood drawn from your arm, it doesn't hurt you or the baby!

Definitely double check on your insurance covering it - I thought mine did but they don't and now I owe $1500!!

@babybumb19 it literally only within the last year became an option, that's why your mom probably didn't have the option.

Well when I called to see if it was covered they said after 12 weeks it would be. I had the test at 14 weeks and now they say it wasn't medically necessary as there were other tests that should have been administered first to check for downs. My aunt had a child with downs prior to her turning 30 and as I am an older mom I had concerns. Don't let the insurance company trip you up. This was in July and I'm still appealing their denials. Also I'm in Alabama - I'm pretty sure the test is available everywhere.
