Mommys of little boys; I have a huge question!! Everett got circumcised yesterday, we just brought him to the ER because the past 2 diaper changes they have been kind of bloody, called the dr and they said bring him in. The PA there said it looks good, the gauze was irritating it everytime he peed and to leave it off and pretty much have him "free ball" it. My peanut also had extra foreskin too.. My question is, I know I can't wipe it but the PA said "saline solution" and not Vaseline. I'm not comfortable with that, can I just keep using the Vaseline?

I think they had the gauze on their when you used Vaseline to prevent it from sticking to the diaper...which would hurt to have to pull it off

maybe that's why he suggested saline so it doesn't stick

Saline is what fluids your body holds. Literally when you go to the hospital, and they say you need fluid, that bag of fluid they hook to your IV is saline. I suppose they would say saline so that its clean and drying out properly.....I don't have boys but I have two brothers, and my mom went through it with them....I hope little one gets better!

the Vaseline will keep any bacteria trapped in open wound. so I wouldn't use Vaseline it's important to let wounds breath

Saline will keep it clean and prevent infection. And it will actually help it dry out
