When I had my first baby 4 years ago, I was told soo many different wives tales stories or whatever they're called about different things during pregnancy. One of those was that I shouldn't take showers with hot water because the baby can feel it. I hadn't remembered this until just a bit ago I was taking my usual hot shower before bedtime and I felt the baby moving and moving! Made me think, could it be true??? Does anyone know if it's true? Am I hurting my baby with the water being hot? It's not burning hot but it is pretty warm.

I dont tjink the shower as much as the bath. .. but the reason for the bath is because it can cause infection

@marushka22 Ohh ok, see I didn't know that. I kept thinking just now, what if the warm water bothers him lol. Maybe he enjoyed the vibration of the water hitting my belly?? Idk lol :) thank you!

I take hot showers every night.. my Dr says it's fine as long it's not raising my body temperature to more than 100 degrees

I heard that was a myth too... baths cause infection.. but ask Dr to be totally sure or you can research.. but I have heard what @stlgrl22 said was true.. be careful of water temp cuz it can raise your temp too high

the issue is raising your body temp also raises babies body temp. think of this....body temp is 98° if you take a shower at 107° it will raise your body temp. and a long shower will raise your core temp. your babies brain is very delicate. the smaller the more sensitive. when baby is born you will most likely be concerned about every degree above normal.....just because the baby is inside doesn't mean you can't raise it's body temp and cause problems. that us why you aren't supposed to sit in a hot tub above 99° or a Hot bath or a very hot shower. you don't have to take a cold shower and you can always put a tub thermometer in the water stream to see how hot it is.

also you aren't supposed to take a bath if your water breaks because it might cause infection but any other time (unless you already have an infection or Dr says otherwise) it is just fin. just be aware of the. temp

@sexii_diiva Even if I wanted to sit and take a bath, I don't think I would be able to get back up out of the tub, lol! @kidtyme This is very interesting though, I did not know you couldn't shower after your water breaks! With my first I never got to experience my water breaking but I am really hoping for it this time, lol! Thank you so much for the information!

you can shower after your water breaks but do not submerge yourself in water after it breaks .
