I want to tell my boyfriend he needs help and needs to go to anger management I just don't know how…

I want to tell my boyfriend he needs help and needs to go to anger management I just don't know how to approach it! He can go from a cuddly care bear to incredible hulk in seconds if u make him mad. its not healthy and I don't want my son to ever see that side of his dad. He likes to break things and hit stuff when he get mad. my family always say one day it won't be an object it will be me he decides to hit. he is a great person he had always been there for me but Yes he has an anger problem. everyone has a temper but the way you control it is another story. I just wish he was better at controlling the anger.

Okay I dealt with this with my boyfriend. I told him that he wanted to continue expressing himself in a violent manner that we couldn't be together. I am high anxiety and he caused me to have panic attacks (the only thing that would snap him out it). Tell him he either needs to find a new way to channel frustration and anger or see someone or both! The bottom line is that he needs to change his attitude. Tell him how his anger makes YOU feel. That's what made the difference with me, I told him that watching be so angry he threw things or punched things, made me scared of him and what he could do to me... even though I don't believe he would intentionally hurt me, I was still afraid. Because of the panic attacks I told him he had two weeks to show me he was trying to change his attitude or I was changing living situations. I wish you luck and you don't need to put up with it. If you are seriously concerned about an outburst, try doing it in a public place or even see about using a mediator... A friend or a professional.

Totally agree with what @kaity0117 said, because their intentions are never to hit you or hurt you, but one day that object will turn in to you, and you should never have to get to the point where your scared of the man you lay with every night, and if he agrees to go to anger management or counseling go with him, my husband was the same way but raised in a house with 5 boys the way they were taught to channel anger was through being destructive, mean and fighting and it had to change because it was like that with everyone and everything, it's a touchy subject just use calm words and offer to go along, cause you don't wanna make him seem like a monster 😊

@kaymariah, aww babe yeah nobody can push anybody to that point, they allow themselves to get to that point because they have a problem, it's not healthy and if he can't pull it together then as hard as it may be you may just have to seperate for awhile, because it's not just you its you and baby, well I pray it all works out for ya love 😊

And if he going to blame you for his anger problems well... That's a sign that he's not mature. definitely not emotional mature at all. He can't blame you, we are all responsible for our own emotions and how we deal with them. He's just not man enough to fess up to having a problem. If he really believes you are the one at fault well.. As hard as it may be... Don't allow him back into your home until he gets help. Like I said I told my boyfriend he had two weeks to show progress and that if I didn't think he was in a safe enough mindset to be around our son that he wouldn't be allowed to see him until he worked his shit out. And now he has way better control of his anger, he has thrown something once and I'm pretty sure it was a pillow.... And he talks to me more about his emotions. You need to be firm and stand up for yourself. Just because it's not aimed at you doesn't make it okay. And accidents happen, one day he could throw something and it hurt you or your baby. Tell him to get help or its supervised visits for him, if you feel that's too extreme find another way to express how important it is that he get some help. Good luck and I hope he sees what he has before it's too late

he says I push him because when things do get heated and he tell me to leave him alone I don't and when he try to walk away I don't let him which only pisses him off. I just hate when he walks away. my mom tells me all the time to let him walk away to cool off but I have a hard time with that. I just like to talk about things and try to resolve it and when he wanna away I feel like he not trying but me holding him or standing in his way just makes him more mad so maybe I provoke him but I still don't think I'm the reason he has anger issues. am I making them worse but not letting him walk away when he needs to? @kaity0117

Why don't you have a talk with him and give it a try his way? If he thinks he just needs to walk away then say "okay if we argue and you need time to cool off I won't stop you, but I need you to come back as soon as you feel you can so that we can work it out. I feel that when you try to walk away that you are walking away from the problem and it hurts my feelings" something like that. Who knows maybe that's what he needs... I know me and my boyfriend both take time to cool a bit before talking it out because with all these hormones I have gotten a little mean and he is struggling as well to be nice. So if we are more calm we can work it out and we never go to sleep angry at each other. Maybe you need to allow him time to simmer down and hey it will give you time to think about what you want to say to him! Just give it a try and let him know that he can walk away as long as he walks right back when he's feeling okay so that you can talk!
