You can always give her the benefit of the doubt. Go to lunch see how it goes. It's either make or break for her.

Hmm I'm not usually so skeptical about people however I would just keep my guard up enough to not let her into my marriage! Makes sense. What is your husband's view on lunch with her? I'm a boundaries type of person. I personally wouldn't like to be close to her. Only becuase my business is mine and not hers. I wouldn't need input or opinions. But maybe she wants to have a conversation with you about her children?

@amandapanda85 I am the same way! I feel like if she had something to say about my step son she can just text or call me. I've been in his life for almost a year now. They also live miles away. I honestly want to nip it in the butt and message her and say I you want to talk what's up

I can't picture this ever happening in my situation but I may go ahead with it if it came up. I have the "joy" of being on both ends. I have a stepdaughter but my kids also have a stepmom. I can see from the mom perspective how meeting and being cordial would be beneficial to the kiddos. However I've never spoken directly to my stepdaughters mom, someone I have a huge lack of respect for bc of the poor choices she makes and I've never met, spoken to, etc. my kids stepmom (she isn't really, legally but has been around 2 yrs and recently gave birth to twins-my kiddos siblings now). I also grew up this way and I can promise you my mom & stepmom wouldn't be caught dead going to lunch but of course have been together at parties and things now with grandchildren involved. Everyone does things differently but never ever ever let your guard down! Like you said texting or calls, if that is enough...

Yes! Hi. Well I've been thinking about Tophers visit with you guys over Christmas and him finding out he's going to be a big brother soon. Congrats by the way! And I really want us to meet and get some time together if that's okay. Your Tophers stepmom now and I just want him to know that we are all okay and want the best for him. her intentions seem sincere. Maybe keep it to a phone convo if you don't feel comfortable with lunch. Or maybe do lunch all together with your stepson and husband.

When I get a message from someone I want to talk to with good intentions I text right back unless I'm incredibly busy I text back as soon as I can! She hasn't texted you back and all this time I think she's trying to figure out a way to manipulate but I can't be sure so you need to pray about it and be careful! @firefly
