My little boy is 3yrs old and having melt downs. Think he has ADHD how do i help him when he has melt down, wont let me anywhere near him. Breaking my heart as i dont yet understand ADHD. He is being transferred for help.... waiting list 🙄
Let him have the meltdown in a safe environment. Introduce mood books or watching little cartoons about emotions. If he has adhd he will struggle to regulate emotions like a child without it, certain foods can trigger it also so do some research on diets. I introduced a rest time during the day my little girl has traits of adhd it runs in the family. So she doesnt nap anymore but we go upstairs in the afternoon and watch a film in bed she actually asks now to "go relax and get comfy" if you waiting for his referral this may take a while so id do some of your own research online to help him my inbox is always open. Ive worked with children and outside agencies for nearly 20 years xx
@tashacoombes89 sounds like hes doing well with his books! Yes it can be hereditary.
Hopefully you'll get the support, keeping fighting for it and keep asking for updates. Children are so easily left to it xx
If you leave him in a safe space to calm in his own time will that help? Obviously don't let him out your sight but just let him know you are there when he needs you.
