Biggest tip is do not force it and wait until they're ready - follow his lead. All of my sons have chosen when they were ready. My 3rd son seemed ready around 2. He then regressed and wanted nothing to do with it. We went with it, thinking he would never want to potty train (the more we asked the more he pushed back). Eventually he just decided he was ready and never looked back (both for daytime and nighttime).
