Ladies, I know many of you have expressed that you refuse to continue to talk to people who hold racially dividing beliefs. I have hit the like button on many of your posts. But unlike you, I keep talking to the people who stand against me, I keep advocating for my family, for you and your loved ones, I keep having the conversations about the sensitive topics that threaten our unity and cause more division among us. My husband is the same way. He chooses not to let his "color" be a factor in someone choosing not to like him, he chooses to stay the course and to be himself no matter the opposing views and through his strong character he has helped many see past his color and developed strong bonds with people who may have otherwise been his adversary. I do the same. There are so many things that he and I discuss that I wish you could be a fly on the wall sometimes. There would be times you would laugh with us, cry with us, and be infuriated at us because we say things to one another that we dare not say to others, things that are private, and personal and quite frankly raw and sensitive. But, that is our way, our way of never letting race or color become a dividing factor for us. Not between one another and certainly not between us and others. We choose to lead by example, through respect, and though many could stand against us(regardless of color or ethnic background) through even having respect for those who don't belief as we do not matter how ugly their views.
For that reason I wanted to share this video. It struck my heart because this man, Mr. Darryl, used conversation and common ground to help a man who stood in opposition of him and us to the core. If he could do it, so can we!!! Let's work together to bring about change of heart and love for others through our own love and hearts. Hugs and love Mama's.
