My son's bday is coming up, and I don't know what to get him 😩 I would like to get him something that teaches him his numbers, letters, colors etc. He can count to ten, but I'd like something that helps with number recognition. I'm working on letter recognition with him now using flashcards, so I'd like something that reinforces that, also, I'm only working on uppercase letters because that's what I have, and I had planned to work on lowercase later (correct me if I'm wrong here, and I should be doing both at the same time 😕.) We're working on counting to 15 now, and identifying colors. It might sound way to advance for him, or overkill, but I'm doing everything over a great period of time, I just started early and just repeat, repeat, repeat. Like, I would count his toes at bathtime, count his fingers, count out loud at random. For his letters, I just show him them and say their name at bedtime before we read his bedtime story, so I don't think I'm overloading him... 🤨 but feel free to tell me if I'm doing too much and bombarding him with information at his age. Most importantly, recommend a gift 😃 thanks!

My son got a Leap Frog Mr Pencil and Scribble, it has really helped him with his letters. It only counts to 10 though and doesnt have colors. Mostly letters.

I just looked it up, and I am concerned about him being rough and maybe stabbing the little screen with the pencil, or eating the pencil because he's teething, or him yanking the pencil off the toy altogether... but it really looks like a great toy! Def considering it

@thatregalmujer the screen is pretty durable. My son also stabs at it lol he hasn't tried to eat the pencil or yank it off. It all seems pretty sturdy. But yeah, totally up to you. 🙂 there are so many fun learning toys out there, I'm sure you'll find something great that he'll love! 🤗

Stop second guessing yourself! You're doing great. If he is having fun while learning then keep going. If you are making him miserable then go ahead and pull back some. Sounds like you are doing a great job with him. Take your time, enjoy every moment and remember that playing is education and if the play happens to teach intentionally and not just through happenstance, well, hey! That's great!!! As for a birthday gift, at this age they don't know the difference so get him something you would find joy in him having fun with. Or nothing at all. You can out money in his jar, piggy bank, account, what ever. Lots of hugs and love followed by a cake full of color and yummy frosting is always a plus. Hugs!!!

@thatregalmujer Keep it up! I have a collection of vintage books and especially Dr Seuss for my girls. They don't have to be for him to hold right now. You can get things that you will read to him in the years to come and they will become favorites. I think it's sad to buy board books that will run their course so quickly and then be discarded or ruined. Get a good book you enjoyed when you were a little girl and inscribe it to him each birthday. No matter what you do I am sure it will be perfect!!!
