“Mommy, I’m brown. Do you like me?” A question from my 3-year-old daughter that started me on a journey of #selfreflection. Here’s the beginning of what I hope to continue to write and expand upon in the coming weeks.

After reading your post and responding to this I had my own "brown moment" with my daughter and her father. I was sad bc she questioned his color(I knew it would happen eventually but wasn't prepared for it to happen so soon) he had a different perspective. He said he didn't see with coming with a question of race or ethnicity, just from the perspective that she has learned her colors and now see that we are all a different color in the house. All she sees is our family, people who love her, and when she sees others she sees their differences and yes, color is part of that, but again she doesn't see race or ethnic boundaries and her question came from a place of curiosity and innocence. I really hope this is the same place your daughters question was coming from and that she will have a very different vision of herself and that her battle within will be different from yours. Many hugs mama!

"Healing is a life long process and only the ones who find forgiveness reach the end of their journeys whole"- CRS(That's me, but I don't want to use my name)

Thank you for posting this. It is intensely felt and well written. My prayers for your continued journey to healing and wholeness. Wholeness comes much faster! And when you get there you will see the difference. God bless you and your sweet girl.
