My 10 month old will not sleep in his crib. When he was first born he slept in his bassinet, then from 2-7 months we co-slept with him. For the past 4 almost 5 months I’ve been trying to get him to sleep in his crib but he will not.
For a while he had a sleep association to breast feeding, that’s finally breaking and he will fall asleep cuddling me watching tv. I’ll put him in his crib fully asleep and he’ll wake up usually 20 minutes later whaling and WILL NOT go back to sleep.
If I try to do the thing where i put him tired and almost asleep but not quite same thing, he whales. I’ve tried letting him cry it out but after 30-40 minutes I feel so bad and to get him, try to rock him back to sleep and nope. Cries.
So he ends up coming back to bed with us.
He is in his own room, and has always been a bad sleeper at night. But this mama is at a loss and is so exhausted she can barely function. What do I do? I love our cuddle time but I’m so sore from the way he sleeps when he’s in bed with us AND I know all the risks which means I’m up most the night anyway making sure the blankets not over his face (which he won’t sleep without one anyway) or his father doesn’t roll on him
HELP!!
I'm kind of in the same boat. I managed to get my LO to sleep in the crib for a while but he eventually wanted back into bed with us... anyways, you could try getting a dockatot for your bed so he has his own little bed within your bed (more protection from people rolling on him). Or try sitting with him when he's in the crib. I used to put my hand through the slots and by his face so he felt close to me. That used to work for us. Sitting close by and putting him on his back and reassuring in general might work better than letting him cry it out.
