Soo. Long story, but...I have seen all this EITC stuff so I looked it up, based on what I saw I realized my step daughter would probably be eligible, she worked a bit last year, and she had a baby. So I mention it just to make sure she knew about it and she says yes, claimed it. Ok. Cool...what’s not cool is the fact that she is asking her father and me for 2K$ for a down payment on a car...after my research I realize she is probably about to get like almost 10K$ back in a tax refund. We are not loaded, we are using our savings. We are just trying to help her get on her feet, now I feel taken advantage of 😡!

I highly doubt she’s going to get $10k.

I doubt 10k lol and it does take longer for EITC and maybe needs it sooner. Idk hopefully she isn't taken advantage but yea she can do it herself when the money comes.

Refunds do take a while to be issued and maybe she needed the money sooner rather than later. She also may not be getting that amount back because it all depends on how much you earned.

I wouldn't label it as being taken advantage of if her father was willing to give her money either way.

True, I know there are a lot of factors, I am just making an educated guess.
