@mom4m, oh damn! That’s pretty strong right off the bat. They just gave me a 10mg loritab and sent me home with the same. I only took one at a time and then broke them in half towards the end. I think the drug problems, especially opioids, is rampant in every town so they’re just trying to make sure they don’t create addicts like they did before when doctors would prescribe them for anything and everything but having surgery and a baby is a legitimate reason if you ask me!

@inkedsouthernbelle they gave me oxy twice right after surgery but im pretty sure they only gave me that because im allergic to the 24 hour morphine they usually give in your spinal. Im so happy this was my last because id never wanna deliver at that hospital again. I wish they wouldve listened to me better on what i need for recovery. I mean its my 4th time going thrpugh it i know what works and what doesnt. I was also kinda afraid to ask because the town i delivered in is small and has a drug problem but damn give a chick a break and let me come home with something a little stronger than ibuprofen. Even asking them for 800mg ib was like ripping a tooth out of them

@mom4m, its mandatory that you stay in the hospital 48 hours after giving birth here and they give you pain meds every 4 hours but you have to ask for them. They don’t just come in and give it to you. I didn’t know that and 6 hours after surgery I was really hurting but then another 2 hours went by and I was in PAIN so I called the nurse and she said she could give me something but only until I asked so I said consider this an indefinite “ask”! After I kept up with my pain meds every 4 hours I wasn’t in any pain and did that the entire week I went home. I took a pill every 4-6 hours as needed and then slacked off at the end because I felt myself recovering without soreness and pain. It kills me because that’s what the damn things are for! You just had a baby cut out of you, all your organs put next to your body and then sewed up twice and they can’t give you something to manage the pain you’re sure to feel for the following 5-7 days?????

They wanted to give me Norco but i wasn't in much pain so they sent me home with Tylenol

Pretty much suffering because if i wouldve asked for pain meds in the hospital they wouldve kept me longer due to "not being able to control my pain well enough" they got this all ass backwards

Wtf??? Are you serious? Y’all didn’t get pain meds???? I got 30 10 mil something for pain (loritab or Vicodin or something) and that helped me survive all week into the next. I don’t think that’s right to not prescribe something for pain after a surgery. I’d damn sure check with another doctor and the hospital administrator and whoever else because I ain’t dealing with that pain with some ibuprofen 🤦‍♀️

@momof3cuties its ridiculous.. I haye taking any type of pain med but atleast the last 3 times i had it when i needed it.. Totally get not wanting to give out narcotics all willy nilly but shit if your patient just had 2 major abdominal surgeries in one day give them a little something
