Ok I pee in a cup every time I go to the dr...obviously. this morning I get a call that says on the 13th my opiate level came back at 1000! They said they aren't concerned as some medications i was on or currently am on could cause it....i researched all my medication and NONE of them should cause this. She asked me if I eat poppyseeds and I told her I eat an everything bagle maybe 3-4 times a week for breakfast....a thin one at that. She said that could do it. I refused to believe and I asked to come in today for a repeat urine test. I have NEVER taken anything illegal before and never would. I am freaking out trying to figure out what really could have caused this.

@jessicawashburn16 I bet it was! My nurse said it happens more then we like to think. But I was also very ticked. The last who called me earlier was like your dr knows you and isn't worried about this but still....I couldn't imagine what some of those nurses were saying. So infuriating!
I retested too and there was nothing but still. A few times at the beginning they had the wrong chart for me. I'm wondering if that had something to do with it.
I had this happen early in my pregnancy except they said I had alcohol in my system! I MOST CERTAINLY DID NOT consume any alcohol. That was embarrassing. They made me talk to a counselor my husband and I were livid. They believed it to be a false positive it had to have been there is no other possible explanation. I'm still mad about it.
Ok ladies my test today came back completely negative. So I can breathe lol

@beakymcspence I just went and took another. Shes calling me with results bc I was freaking out.
I’ve never had a moms opiate levels test that high for poppy seeds (and trust me I myself am obsessed with lemon poppy seed loaf) Id be more inclined to think something else has thrown your test off or human error.
I also had someone fail a breathalyzer I think it was because they were chewing a type of gum. Weird things!! Can you imagine going to jail for a “DUI” or under the influence but in all reality you just had a bagel or you were chewing gum!! That’s scary.
@sadie.w, That's so weird that some doctors do that and others don't.
I've had 5 babies n have always had to give a urine sample every visit it's how they check for uti and protein.
Weird! How come you have to pee in a cup every time? I only do that once or twice with each pregnancy.
I mean it's not like I was eating a pack a day I literally had maybe 4 a week.

@penelope127 I havnt ate any in a week....we are moving so my toaster is packed.i doubt that me eating those bagles 4 times a week of that caused this. I'm just t re ying to figure out what did
@kerstie14, maybe since your opiate level is so high, just switch to a different bagel without poppy seeds.

@kerstie14 should be lower, don't know about gone though. Not too educated on drug tests.
Lord have mercy. So I havnt had one in almost a week bc we are moving and I've packed my toaster, should my levels be down or gone by now? I'm going in for a repeat today that I demanded.
I know someone who would buy a poppyseed bagel every day and keep the receipt so when they failed their urine test- they’d have that excuse. He was somehow able to pull that off for years.
