At 2.5 I went straight to underwear during the day then we did pull-ups at night. We only used pull-ups during the day when she went through a regression at 3 and we were changing undies 5x a day. Pull-ups are actually very hard for a toddler to pull up and down. Underwear is much easier.

@aubreys_mommy, I looked back and didn’t really answer your question. Ha My daughter just turned two and stared telling me when she needed her diaper changed. So hats when I knew it was time to start potty training. Usually around 2 is when you start but you know your children and can tell when they are ready.

I am a pre school teacher and I have to say I hate pull ups. Like all these other ladies. They are just like diapers. The children do not feel the difference. It’s better to just go straight to underwear. Buy the really thick ones, training pants and work your way up to the thin panties once they’ve mastered it. I also suggest having a waterproof liner over them. Kinda helps keep messes in. Since they are in underwear. If going the panty route have them sit on the potty for 5 min at a time every 20 min. Sing a song, read a book, talk to them. Have them sit when you sit as well, so they get used to it and the sound.

I agree, they are just like diapers just more expensive with less in the box. If your going to potty train just use panties/underwear. I had to wash alot of panties at the beginning but it was worth it.

From the moms ive spoken to about potty training ive heard theyre no different than diapers. The kids go in them like regular diapers. My friend has 7 kids, 6 are girls and she uses regular panties. Once they pee themselves they realize its awful and quickly pick up the potty training. Using the pull ups just enables them to go just like a diaper. Its summer time so were going to start the panty route. So far shes doing great
