Implants and breastfeeding.

Do any of you ladies have breast implants and were able to breastfeed successfully? I had my breasts done a few years ago and now I'm wondering if I'll be able to breastfeed. The incision is along the areola. I'm 33 weeks and my breasts get more and more sore as I get closer to my due date. Is this a good sign?

I don't think it's just about sensation. The milk ducts may have been severed if they went in through areola. If the ducts were severed you won't be able to bf. I knew someone who got a breast reduction and wasn't able to bf because of this

Let me know if you were able to. My incision is under my breast and I just found out I am pregnant as well

It can cause a problem if when they cut around the areola if you lost sensation or have numbness in the areola. If you have feeling in your nipples and areola you should be fine bc it's all about sensation stimulation for the milk to come in. I would let the lactation consultant know so they can manually stimulate your breast if they have to and show you how to! There are ways around this issue if one presents itself when the time comes. I just had this conversation at breastfeeding class June 1st.

One of my oldest friends had a biopsy done and the cut was on her areola. She produced only on one side because of it.

Idk if it's the same though.

I had surgery with a scar along the areola and was unable to bf on the breast

I have them. My incision is under the breast though, but I've had no troubles at all.
