*sigh* Had to take this test today... A while ago I saw an article on Facebook (I forget the source) but it was talking about how this drink itself isn’t exactly safe for mom or baby and that there are actually alternative tests that can be done AND you have the right to refuse the test. Now... I didn’t get a chance to fact check this, but have you heard anything of the like? I’m positive I don’t have diabetes (gestational or otherwise) but I totally forgot about this test today (had breakfast and some tootsie rolls this morning) and was eating a peppermint when the nurse handed me the bottle 🤦🏽‍♀️ And I accidentally bit my sons banana after chugging. I’m totally sure I’ve screwed up this test LoL

@telliey I hear you girl. I didn't want to drink it either, but I didn't want to be difficult 😥 I wanted to also be safe rather than sorry, I only failed by one point though. If I would have failed by more I would have been a lot more concerned.. if you fail it, it'll depend on how badly you do. GD has to do with the babies placenta and hormones. It's a unique thing.. even if you aren't at risk at all you could still have it, but you probably don't. And you probably won't fail either but if you do, take into consideration how much you failed it by and go from there.. Your doctor can also choose to forfeit you as a patient if you come back and say you don't want to retake it. Most do. It sucks but they don't play when it comes to that!

@telliey, true but if u honestly think about it fetus deaths would be higher if it was truly that harmful. I hate to bring up a grim topic but either way it’s parents choice on if u drink it or not. In my opinion there are worse things out there then this drink.

@mommykai, I think that was one of the alternative methods I’d read about.

@foxiemomma, I can’t entirely agree with that. Although I’m sure there’s no harm in this drink, there are and have been plenty of substances given to the masses that were later proved to be harmful and some that are harmful and banned in some countries but still allowed in US foods 😕

@emileemoreland5, Oh I’m sure of that too. I forget the details of the article because it was quite some time ago, but if I find the article I’ll post it and tag you.

@simplyshantell, if I don’t pass I’m not doing it over. I’m not drinking that crap again. My risk is minimal so I don’t think I should have to in the first place. But I’m not tryna be a difficult patient... no do overs for real tho Lozl

I took my glucose test by eating 16 jelly beans. It’s way less disgusting than that drink lol

They have been doing this test for years! If it was a serious problem they would of stopped doing it. People are over reacting on things just because they can. Personally I think they should focus more on smoking(not hating on smokers y’all) and alternative energy etc then this.

I had a bowl of cereal the morning of the test, and I failed by one point. They made me take the 3 hour and I passed it with flying colors.. It was probably failed due to the cereal. Fingers crossed you pass and dont have to pointlessly take the 3 hours, which is twice as much glucose and they draw your blood 4 times. While it's certainly not good for you, GD is far worse and riskier for you and baby and you never really know if you have it or not until you get properly tested, each pregnancy is different. Fingers crossed for you. You'll most likely be fine! @telliey

It's fine if you eat. I was told I could eat. Your gallbladder will kick in with the correct amount of insulin if you're not diabetic and the results will be within range.

Did you tell them you ate? Because it'll probably screw up the results and make them want to do the longer one.
