Intact and circumcised men are at the same risk for STD and infection, if the intact man is taught proper hygiene and safe sex (Which should be taught anyways)
Foreskin protects penis and acts as a natural lubricant.
Routine infant circumcision can be traumatic for the baby.
There’s thousands of nerve endings in the foreskin, to have that taken away at birth, is extremely painful.
When you circumcise your baby, you are detaching skin of an underdeveloped penis, so the amount of skin taken away is just an estimation, if too much skin is taken away it can cause major health problems for the man once his penis is fully developed.
Care for an intact penis is very simple, just like wiping a finger.
I think it’s a choice that should be left for your son when he is old enough to make that decision.
My son is circumcised and I regret it, future boys will remain intact!
Research momma! Make the decision best for you and your boy!
I’m having a boy and I’m not gonna get him circumcised. I believe that it’s pointless and taboo . It’s painful to kids 1 and why would you circumcised your son if nothing is wrong with him and not your daughter ? . I think if you teach yourself and your son the proper way to clean himself when he gets older then he won’t have any problems . But do whatever you feel is best for YOUR son and not what’s easier for you .
@momtothe3rdpower, ankle bands sound like a great idea! That makes me feel so much better. And gives me a better case if someone does do it to him. It makes so much sense to just leave it alone. Until puberty and eventually married n stuff why would it ever need to be retracted? That’s crazy.
I have some newborn ankle bands that say do not circumcise do not retract. If you pm me your address I could mail them to you. I’d also put no foreskin retraction on a birth plan if you’re having one and just don’t let him out of your sight
@momtothe3rdpower, thanks so much. I’m actually kind of scared that some nurse or doctor or something is going to force his skin back. Do u think I could like sue or something if that happens? I’m sure if I tell them enough they won’t do it but it’s just a little fear of mine because it seems like some people, even hospitals, are still very uneducated about it
@momtothe3rdpower, I’ve been looking the past few days and I think I’m pretty set on not doing it. I mean I’m not putting down moms that do because we are all just doing what we think is right
@liz41395, please please please research before you make a final decision. Roughly 117 baby boys die annually from circumcision. The brain of an infant boy is forever changed from the procedure due to the extreme amount of pain they’re in. The anesthesia they use doesn’t help with the pain at all. Studies show identical cortisol (stress/pain hormone) levels in “anesthitised” and not anesthitised babies. On the circ carts in hospitals they HAVE to at all times carry epinephrine to restart the heart because heart attacks from the pain isn’t uncommon. Please look into all of this. I’m not trying to sway your decision but these are LEGITIMATE facts you can read in several studies. Infection rates are almost identical in circumcised and intact males. So circumcision does not protect from infection. And the foreskin was put there for a REASON. to protect the head of the penis. Good luck on the decision though.
@c00kiemomster, maybe when u guys do have another baby it will be another girl and you don’t have to go through the choosing. If so I hope u and hubby get on the same page! I know it would be a huge blessing for u guys boy or girl!
@liz41395, Actually, I think it’s becoming more popular to leave the foreskin now. In Europe it has always been rare to be circumcised. But it’s spreading as research is showing what little benefit it is. I figure it is there for a reason and men wouldn’t be born with it if it weren’t. My husband will be harder to convince though. When we’ve talked about it previously he was not big on the idea of not circumcising.
@c00kiemomster, have to weigh the possible consequences. I think it’s a rare decision these days but I may be leaning more towards leaving it uncut. I don’t think it looks funny or whatever and I think risk of them cutting wrong or something would be worse than an infection from poor hygiene later on. Because even if they are cut if they have bad hygiene they can get infection. It just seems like not something I can personally do unless I find some other reason to change my mind.
I’ve also known multiple baby boys whose doctors botched it and had to have surgery because they cut too much off. It’s also now considered by many insurances to be cosmetic surgery and not automatically or fully covered.

my nephews 7 and my sister never circumcised him, she felt like as long as she kept it clean it wouldn't be a problem however he got an infection and recently had to get circumcised anyway. It was sad and painful at that age for him to undergo that procedure.
Me, personally. I've circumcised my son and stand firm on my decision as to do it. I think it's healthier & cleaner. MY OPINION! :)

My nephews are uncut and are 5 and 2, they haven’t had any issues with it. The foreskin also has tons of nerve endings in it and makes sex more pleasurable from what I hear. I’m on the fence about it, personally. I kind of hope if I ever get pregnant we have another girl so I don’t have to decide lol
All for the snip!
Its cleaner and prettier! All that skin hanging about haha!
We cut on the 7th day, but my Turkish family snip at 6 years of age! 😆 but the have a hugeeee coming of age ceremony!! Its awesome.
