Just found out that the birthing center I wanted to have my water birth at wants to charge me $4500 out of pocket 😓 I’m so disappointed.
So basically the only way I’d be able to have a water birth now is if I had a home birth. 😔

That’s where i’m giving birth!! Premier Birth Center in Winchester! My insurance ended up not covering it cause I met my deductible early this year with a surgery.

How far away are you from Frederick? There’s a couple places there I think that do home births. Riverside Midwifery is one, and they’re super sweet.

@baechelll, well, you’re from Hagerstown so you know! I wanted to birth in Winchester and they wouldn’t look into WV Medicaid :(

@baechelll, birthing at the hospital in my town is totally free for me because my insurance pays for everything but the birthing center won’t make any acceptions for my insurance because they are not in my state :( I live right at the edge of West Virginia so I’m like a half an hour from VA and also MD And since it’s out of state, they won’t accept it :(((

That’s how ours is. But sometimes they can talk your insurance after and get you some money back. We chose a birth center for the 1-on-1 care, calming home-like setting, and water-birth as a option.

I’m 37 weeks now and I’m so thankful we made this choice. Yeah, the money sucks, but the hospital can be upwards of 10k and our hospital had a fairly high c-section rate.

That sucks. But nothing wrong with that. It's probably more comfy to have it at home.
