They’re honestly not the best pets for young children. They’re very skiddish and active at night. They need to be handled daily to be friendly animals, and that pretty much means just letting them fall asleep where ever they choose. They’re cage temperatures can’t fall below 72 degrees or they’ll
Go into hibernation which hedgehogs are not supposed to do, they’ll die if you don’t warm them up quickly. They’re nails Need clipping about once a month which is not easy if they’re grumpy(not handled daily) they need quiet places to live. Just sneezing will startle one. He’s the perfect pet for me, I didn’t want something super active, I wanted something that would let me hold him and just cuddle. I don’t know how old your daughter is, but most kids really just shouldn’t have pet hedgehogs, but you’re the best judge of that. I just wouldn’t pay $250 dollars for a pet my kid couldn’t enjoy. That’s not including the heating, wheel, bedding, and cage costs. They need large cages, hedgehogs love to explore at night and run for miles every night. Hope that helps. @blessedmama__,
A breeder. You should only buy hedgehogs from certified breeders! Never pet shops. they have a lot of health and behavioral issues when bought from pet stores.
