Has anyone fostered or adopted? Or has been a foster child or adopted? I want a sibling for my son. I've been hurt by others looking for a "sister" I never had and don't want that for him. He has cousins but they have their siblings so i feel it'll be the same. He loves people and always wants to play. Since th sex department is closed til marriage and who knows when that will happen I'm considering fostering a little one.
I say little because my son is two and is not speaking clearly. Some of the kids could be emotionally abused and respond through violence and I don't want to have to send a kid back. And my son could have a "baby" as he calls all babies "my baby".
I'm venting but looking for advice at the same time.

I've been a foster child since age 8 till I aged out. And I seen many babies come into foster homes and get abused or not well taking care of by the foster parents. These babies could use some good loving parents . These foster parents don't care about anything but a check. When I was 15-16 they bribed my foster mom to keep me for 3,000 monthly. She told me they was gonna raise the money.

Thank you. I'm going to go through with it. Advice on older kids? Like I said I have to protect my son first, but an older kid who has lost hope I think would benefit so much emotionally

My little sister is adopted and she came to us at 3 days old a foster. If your end game is adopting, fostering would be the way to go. But know it's not easy, you have to learn to love and let go. And parents are hard to deal with most of the time. We've had some (my parents fostered when I was a teen) that thought if they lied about the foster family and fed lies to their kid that they would get them back. It's also extremely heartbreaking when you get a kid that you know was in an unsafe place and they get sent right back. We once got a 9 month old that was so filthy and covered in cigarette burn scars but she went back after a weekend.
