Mommies I Need H-E-L-P !!!

So of course my son was like boarderline from being a premie (4lbs 15oz) at birth.
At His 4 month wellness visit they said he was almost underweight on the growth chart being that he weighed in like 11lbs. His doctor started him on rice cereal and at 5mnths it would be okay to move to baby food/ solids along with the usual Breastmilk (exclusively bf). We did so and at his 6month wellness visit this passed Monday he weighed in at only 12lbs and his doctor said he is now underweight for his age but other than that he's totally healthy.!
She said he needs more calories before she sees him again next month to weigh him And to try giving 2 jars of baby food each feeding. I thought wow that's a lot ! but if it gets him where he needs to be I'll try it. Nooow he's teething more and doesn't barely wants to eat 🙄 especially veggies! He drinks at most 2oz just spits it out.

Is there any method or strategy I can try to get him to eat more to try getting his weight moving up before our next visit??

Not sure if that is the case. But if you pump you'll see it rise to the top. And if you nurse, the longer he stays on one the fattier milk is towards the end of feed. That's also why massage is good, it breaks up the fat globs so it's reaches baby easier

@kambam, will do !
The darker the milk the more fat is in it right?

If youre interested in "fattier" milk like the other women have suggested: the only thing proven to help milk fat is breast massage before and between feedings and if you feed more often the milk will have more fat. Eat different kinds of fats for your health ☺ avocado, almonds, sesame, sunflower seed, whole yogurt.

@kambam, Yes because overall he's a very happy baby and he's doing everything on point for his age it's just her and that scale 🙄

If you are EBF you should ask your dr what chart he/she is using... the CDC chart is primarily for formula fed babies but there's a WHO chart they "should" be following which is for primarily EBF babies.. but most Dr don't follow that chart... and I second what @shylamarie, said increase your meat or even chicken intake

Trust your instincts. Some babies are smaller, some are bigger. Happy and healthy is what counts not some BS chart made by the formula companies.

Right! @kambam,
He seems to have gotten heavier and has all the strength in the world lol but he's just tiny! but his dad and I are both small so I wouldn't expect him to be just big ya know. He's 24inch

Those weight charts are BS. Just keep feeding on demand imo. Of course its gonna take him longer to be chart weight since he was little at birth 😑😑 is he growing in length?

Maybe increase your calorie intake. I started eating more red meat and my milk started getting really fatty, and her weight increased rather quickly 😊
