If I didn't want to go back to my job after maternity do I have to pay back my maternity pay? One of my friends told me you have to go back for so long before leaving?

If your just getting the standard government maternity allowance then no you don't. If your employer pays you maternity, for example my friend still gets 90% of her normal wages for so long then 60% so she has to either go back to work or pay it back. Usually you would have had discussions with your employer about pay etc before you left.

I've been told If I don't go back I have to pay it all back but if I go back and work 3 months then I can leave without owing anything. that's my workplace but I think it may differ from place to place x

I didn't get maternity pay from work, I got maternity allowance from the government as I hadn't been working for the company long enough. But you shouldn't have to pay a penny back. You're entitled to it x
