I am 30 weeks pregnant on Tuesday I work Monday to Friday but have not been there long enough for them to pay me maternity leave, so I have to claim the one from the goverment, don't know if I'm better of leaving my job and getting benifits, my partner works, or be better off getting maternity pay, or take my maternity leave now as suffer with really bad back plus am big for 30 weeks, but if I take my maternity leave now I have to wait about a month to know if am entitled to it, is there anything I can get in the mean time as have rent and bills to pay etc, anyone please? I'm not a bum worked all my life

@katyc884781, if she's refusing to give you it I'd threaten her with a dispute, she has to regardless, all the smp1 form says is "we aren't going to pay you because....." then there details, smp is 90% of your average weekly earnings up to £139 a week xx

Thanks she is saying they can't give it to me because I can receive 2 pays from them and work, which is bollocks as form asks when I'm taking maternity leave, first that was there excuse can't give me it until I know when taken my leave now it's that reason xx

She has to give you your smp form now, she can't wait until last pay! You have to have time to sort it. I have 2 jobs, not entitled to maternity pay off either so I get maternity allowance. As of 1st January my maternity finishes and I'm going to leave 1 of my jobs. Do what's best for you and baby. You won't get any other money apart from maternity whilst your pregnant. But once baby arrives you can get child benefit and child tax credits xx

I don't think maternity from the goverment is a lot at all that's y thought be better of getting benifits, or if I take my maternity leave now can I get any money why waiting for them to get back to me with decision

My boss is saying she can not give me the smp1 form untill I reiceve my last pay, was going to work up to the 6th of November baby due 6thh of December I get paid on the 25th of the month they are saying not not give me the form till I receive my last pay form that says that can not give me maternity, and there is a month waiting list and goverment said can not make a decision till they have received that form X

I would say for now your better off staying where you are. I don't get maternity from my work either but through them I get the standard maternity pay from the government. Both my husband & I work so we're not entitled to anything.

I would say stay and keep working and try for maternity allowance from the government. You can check what other things you're entitled to on the gov website. I'm not entitled to anything as I work full time and will be getting SMA and my partner works too. I suspect you'll be much the same xx
