We had to stay 2 extra days in the hospital with our son bc of jaundice. He is 2 months old now and they still do bili checks at all of his appts. It was really hard thinking we would get to take our baby home and then end up staying another night bc he needed to go under the lights. I cried the whole day. We just had an appt yesterday and his bili levels were perfect. He is still a little yellow but it is breastmilk jaundice at this point. Some babies get it, some don't. My little guy has it, but we are assured that it clears by 3 months. Try not to worry. The nurses will do everything to make you and your baby healthy and comfortable. You can always talk to the social worker in Labor & Delivery about how you are feeling throughout all of this. That is exactly what they are there for. I really hope your baby's next bili check is within normal levels and that you are feeling better emotionally.
