Also, if you are breastfeeding/pumping, sitting by her incubator and pumping will be very helpful and help you to feel closer to her as well. Take lots of pics, videos, and ask your NICU if they havr the Similac breastfeeding bag that my hospital gave me (free) - there was this neat NICU journal inside that allowed me to document everything with his journey along the way
@amymabundio, I can completely understand that sweetie, my son was an hour away from us 😢 Every minute you're not there is going to feel like literal torture. I know how bad it hurts. My boy was in the Level 3 NICU for 3 weeks and a Level 2 at a diff hospital for 2 weeks. So, believe me, I know the hurt. Just be there as much as possible and hold her skin to skin as much as you can. Ask them if they have a Heart 2 Heart program. It's where they give you these little flannel cloth hearts. You wear them in your bra for 24 hours to fill the cloth with your scent, and then put them underneath her head in her incubator. It helps her to feel like you are there. When they get dirty, you bring them home, wash them, and wear them again.
