so .. I plan on breastfeeding my baby right away..I'm reading up on it and it says first its colostrum? can the baby still have that and is it just as good as the milk for the baby until the milk matures? there is so much I have to learn lol
It's what you give the baby the first few days until the milk comes in. There isn't as much and they don't eat a lot but it's so nutritious they don't really need much
Yes! The colostrum helps coat and protect the immature intestine and acts as a laxative to get rid of the tar like meconium poops for the first few days.
Just remember that even though you don't have a lot, it's plenty for your newborn's marble sized tummy. Try to take a breastfeeding class to prepare yourself. Good luck!
