Had an interesting chat with Morgan's schools SENCO today. Since he started school I've been wondering if there's something more to his struggles than just being behind the 'norm' for his age. The anxiety he has, the sensory issues, the meltdowns he sometimes has over certain things. His general development overall. She was lovely & knows Morgan reasonably well as he has been on their radar since Y1. She agrees he is quite possibly on the spectrum somewhere. We've agreed to keep in contact & catch up in 6months. In that time she is going to work closely with his teacher. Observe & start to note anything as evidence. She's also writing up a letter for me to take to the GP as she thinks maybe he has physical issues. I can't remember the name she gave it but like it took him a long time to hold a pencil right & it takes him a long time to learn physical things other children pick up). I don't quite know what to do now. Will obviously go to GP once she gives me her letter. My mind is just a bit boggled now. Is there anything I need to do in the meantime to help things along or leave it the 6months 🤷♀️

@sara-lou86 the school need to do it. I'm really bad at explaining things. I screen shotted some info from my local area but the basis of the plan is the same

Dyspraxia? It can also be called developmental coordination disorder, my oldest son has it. I'd see how the next 6 months go and let school build their evidence. I'd also look into an early help record, it just identifies his struggles and the support in place for him.

@sara-lou86 I think it may also help the school get extra funding should he need a few hours of 1:1 support.
Yes Dyspraxia came to my mind too! I think it sounds as though the ball has started to roll, it’s great the school have picked up on these things and are now monitoring Morgan, so once you have that letter the gp will do the referral process , in the meantime just keep loving life 🥰xx
Thanks I went into overdrive last night but like you said at the moment we'll just carry on as is and see what the GP says once I get the letter from the school.

Yeh she thinks could be in relation to either dyspraxia or developmental coordination disorder (from a quick Google research sound the same thing).
