I had 3 skin tags removed from my neck. It was easy the dermatologist just numbed the area then snipped them off and put a bandaid over the wound.

I have skin tags. And they are super annoying. If they are bothering the child, then getting it removed would be helpful. When they catch on clothing or jewelry it hurts.
