I brought mine and used it even formula feeding. I still use it daily and I formula feed. I totally recommend bringing it but if you don't, regular pillows do work... But if yours is anything like my hospital, they ran out of pillows and had no extra to give us so I was thankful to have my boppy

Nope!! Sometimes pillows work just fine. I use mine specifically because of my own experiences I know the pillows are too thick for me to use due to my nipple placement and boob size.
