need advice on this maternity grant... I'm just wondering if I will be able to claim it if I'm not working but my partner is and on a decent wage, I looked on the government website and it says I have to be claiming some sort of income to get it, is this true? I wasn't going to apply for it but everyone's saying I should coz everyone else does, so thinking about getting a form and trying :/ tia xxx

😊 Might be worth looking into with your local citizens advice, as there's often something you can claim that you just don't know about. There's also a website you can do a check on, turn2us I think it is. (if you've already done the above then ignore me lol, but just making sure)
That's what I was going to do then I can't say I didn't even try I can't receive any benefits because of how many hours my partner works,,, thanks @ssumner
According to the list of benefits online, I'm not entitled, but gonna try anyway, as am on other benefits and hubby is only on 15k a year. No harm in trying, worst thing they can do is say no
I understand where you're coming from 😃
it looks like I'm not entitled, I'm not bothered about it just wanted to help him out a bit but it doesnt matter we can survive without it but thanks anyway @zaralee71
okay thank you @beckie88 x
Sorry if that sounded snotty, wasn't meant to and just read it back to myself😧 Have a look online, you may be entitled depending how much he earns and if you live together or not
@graciesmummy, my midwife told me everybody is entitled to it if you earn less than £16000 a year x
right ok and because he has to pay for everything, all bills, all new things for baby and I feel bad not putting to for anything so that was the only reason I was going to try and get it but if i can't I can't I only asked...
If he earns a decent wage why would you need it?
Most likely your not entitled unless you claim certain benefits and low income
I think you have to be claiming some kind of benefit. It explains who's eligible on the website if you Google it. Xx
