I thought the same thing when I used these tests for the first time but it is just the plastic part 😕 you can crack it open and take the strip out if that helps. Baby dust!

I do but barely

Not trying to burst a bubble I promise. However that line is the bottom of the test, the plastic part. That's what help keep the strip in place, but if you see it without light. Then you're prego. I just know because I did it before.

I think the lines are too close together? could be a faulty test try a different one!

Looks negative to me

This is my positive with the same test a day before my period was due. Can you take a picture of it on the table or something? There's too much light behind it for me to tell you honestly
