my daughter is a year and some months old, she's had extreme anger issues sinse 6 months that are only getting worse, she throws herself back when mad and hurts herself. anyone been through this?

I've asked her doctor they said it'll go away as she grows up but it's bad I disipline her like I should and it doesn't seem to work

My niece was like that. She would hold her breath on purpose when things weren't going her way and throw herself back.
I wonder if there is a underlying problem to the anger? It could just be tantrums, but a constant rage sounds odd for a baby.
