How does making someone your child's godparent work? I know a lot of people say you have to go to a church to do it. Im not religious but I do want someone appointed my daughters legal guardian if anything were to happen to her dad and I.

Yeah that's what I wanted to try to do @ginag918 I'm stationed overseas so going to a church isn't really an option when the person lives in the states @californiahaley I have two godparents but I'm pretty sure I didn't go to a church for it.

You just choose the person and ask them if they will do it. You can put it in writing and have motorized if you're not a religious person
A god parent is totally different then a legal guardian
