Its actually not worth paying off things that went to collections. it will still be on your credit report.. you should go on Equifax and sign up and you can dispute most of the stuff and start off with a secured card. my husbands credit was bad and in about 4 months his FICO score is 734 he just got 2 american express cards amex and blue cash and he also has chase freedom and verve and capital one.

start paying off anything that is on your credit report. anything in collections. If you have decent enough credit I would suggest getting a credit card and only getting gas on it and pay it back monthly. use only 0-10% of the credit you are given. at the most 30% anything more can hurt your credit

First you need to do a credit report and see what needs to be paid off. Once you do that you can call some of the collectors to see if you can get a settlement and you can also dispute some of them if they have been on there longer than 7 years
