Everybody's skin is different and 8 years is a very long time that's probably why it didn't close in you

I've had mine pierced for 8 years, I took it out when I started to show. It is still open.

I take mines out all the time before I take a shower and when I get out and try to put it back I literally have to force it back it cause it's a open wound and if u leave it out for a long time it will close quickly
