@regelbaby, I live in central new York so it can be cold in may when I'm due. I'll probably just start with a pack of like 3 each if I use them then I'll buy more. thanks lady's @spud

If it's cold where u live then yes 10 hats. That way u have one for diff outfits. If it's not cold where u live a hat is only necessary for the first 24 hours inside or out. As far as mittens go... Well.. My son wore them maybe once. Being such a new baby in a new world with so many new sensory things around him I didn't want to deprive him of being able to feel things... Bc that how they learn. He scratched his face up the firsts cpl days but that could have been avoided if I chewed of cut his little nails. So it's all up to u! :) that's just what I personally chose to do and my midwife actually recommended not putting mittens on him.

I only put hats on my son when it's really cold out. we have maybe 5 and only use like 2
