If you downloaded the mom.life app, we know you’re there to make friends with other moms – and we want to help you make that happen! The best way for other moms to get to know you, besides actually starting a conversation, is to fill out your profile. Take these five steps and you’ll have a rockstar profile in no time.
Choose a quality profile photo
Choose a clear and close-up shot of your face or family so moms can see who you are – a friendly mom just like them. We all know there are classic creepers on social media, so if you are going to do one thing, make sure you include a photo for your mom.life profile. Our moms are very protective of our community and will be more likely to interact with you if they can “see” who they are talking to online. If you don’t want to include your face, then include a profile photo that represents your personality in some way – your favorite flower, symbol or word.
Change your header photo
Your header photo needs to be chosen carefully but it should reflect your personality. It’s a small space that doesn’t work well for people, words or photos that require manipulation or cropping at this point in time. The best photos in this space are images of your favorite places and spaces like the beach for example. Another option is to do what our Mombassader Brittany did here and use an image of glitter or a general pattern.
Upload additional photos
Moms are in the mom.life to connect and make authentic friendships. We see it happening every single day in the app. Moms are making friends for life, setting up playdates and helping each other through the ebbs and flows of parenting. The more you share, the more likely you are to make real friends in the app. So, don’t be shy, share a few photos that give other moms a glimpse at your life. Post photos of your kids, family, and life as a whole. The first two photos you upload are what show up in your profile, so choose those carefully. We recommend you choose family shots for these two spots.
Fill out the about section
This is a place where you can let your personality and parenting philosophies shine. There are a lot of different ways you can choose to write your about section. The more detail you share, the more likely you are to find your tribe of moms in the mom.life app.
You can also use this as a space to promote your other social media and entrepreneurial ventures. We’re here to uplift moms and help them with their goals, so don’t be afraid to add those details in the mix.
You can keep it as simple or as detailed as you like, but we recommend adding enough to let other moms know enough about you that they want to hit that ‘follow’ button if you’re someone they want to know better.
Include the ages and names of your kids
In your profile details, there is a place to fill out the age, sex and the names of your children. We recommend at least including the ages of all of your children. By including the ages, you can make sure you sync up with moms in the same stage of parenting as you. This makes all the difference when you are trying to get advice on things like teething, breastfeeding challenges or potty training. You can always create more anonymous names like “Baby Girl” or “Luv Bug” for their names if you don’t want to share their real names in the app. That’s completely legit in the mom.life community.
The most important thing to remember when creating your social profile on mom.life is to make it reflect who you are as a person and as a mom so you can attract your tribe of moms. Once your done, don’t forget to post something in the newsfeed or one of the channels! The other moms won’t know you’re there unless you do!
So, go download mom.life if you haven’t already, fill out your profile right away and get to chatting with moms like you.
